2 MoUs and 4 LoEs Signed between Pak & China During Dr. Arif Alvi visit

Two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and four Letters of Exchange ( LoEs)  signed between Pakistan and China after concluding bilateral meeting between both leaders during Dr Arif Alvi visit.

President Dr Arif Alvi reached china on a two-day visit on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and senior officials went China with the president. President Dr Arif Alvi and President Xi Jinping witnessed the signing ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People.

One MoU was signed for establishing Joint Working Group on Science and Technology and Agriculture between the governments of People’s Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan would lead to establishment of two separate Joint Working Groups, one on science and technology and the other on agriculture, under the umbrella of CPEC.

While the other MoU was signed between Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (MARA) and Ministry of National Food Security and Research of Pakistan (NFS&R) on Strengthening Cooperation on Plant and Disease Control which would help in monitoring and control of major pests and diseases and improve agricultural productivity. Letters of Exchange signed at the ceremony will play an important role in fighting Covid-19 in Pakistan.

President Alvi praised the relentless efforts undertaken by China for containing and controlling the virus, and was confident that the Chinese people, under the leadership of President Xi, will emerge stronger and victorious in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.
